cling to survive, unite to flourish

Hardship has ever been the status quo of the mountain clans who call the Guardian Mountains their home. Seen as a source of malcontent by the Emerald Empire, these goliath, catfolk, and dragonborn peoples were outcast to what became their mountain homes some hundred years ago. Most of those years are a story of fighting one another to scrape by, fighting marauding orcs and gnolls to survive, or fighting the brutal elements of the Salt Wastes to fill their bellies.
It was not until a trio of fierce warriors, known as the Three, from separate clans came together to throw down a superior orc host that these clans united. Frederick Strongback of the goliath clans, Horra Ninhulhi of the Catfolk clans, and Hesashi the Copper of the dragonborn clans united the clans under the banner of Frostveil Peak, creating the first Council of the Clans.
The most notable settlement among the clans is Runehearth, a goliath town carved of stone and clinging to the desert side of the Guardian Mountains. This is the domain of Frederick Strongback, most revered of the Three. It is here that the clans call their moots and have made their stronghold for dire times.
