Aasimar

AasimarInfused into an Aasimar’s blood is a magic that often coalesces as radiance. For this reason, they are often associated with the sun, moon, and stars above. Currently, scholars are unsure of an aasimar’s origin, though they seem to be associated with the unbridled magic that sometimes permeates places throughout Daria. They can be found in any population and have parents of any species. They often have features such as sparkling freckles, uncommon skin color, or radiantly glowing eyes.

Catfolk

CatfolkCatfolk are an enigma in Daria. They are humanoids that have a feline appearance and are just as varied as any other people. They are quick, agile, and often chaotic in nature. Their origin is a mystery, no stories of such having survived the tests of time. Their appearance is as varied as their attitudes. Some have fur like a tiger or panther. Some have manes like a lion. Others seem more like a house cat.

Dragonborn

Bearing the appearance of humanoid-dragons, these people seem fierce to those who have never met a dragonborn. They are scaled and have horns, but they do not bear wings. They look different from dragons enough that the resemblance can be set aside and friendship forged with other peoples. It is said in their past they were the servants to dragon-gods, but were too rebellious. After they threw off their servitude, the dragon-gods made the more subservient kobolds to replace them.

Dwarf

Often known as skilled craftsmen, fierce warriors, and pious clerics, dwarves tend toward settling in communities of their own more than other peoples. These dwarven communities tend to be rigid in structure and role. These mountain communities boast vast subterranean cities and great works of craftsmanship. However, many dwarves choose to live among the other peoples, sharing their expertise with all.

Elf

Once the lords of Daria, Elves were nearly wiped away a millennia ago in a great cataclysm centered on the Sunfall Coast. Though they are rarer than they once were, their numbers are back on the rise. Renowned for their wisdom and long lives, elves are often held in high esteem, perhaps because of their long age, perhaps because of their unique rarity. Regardless, elves have a distinct heritage that will gain them benefit or detriment depending on the circumstance.

Gnome

Gnomes are a quirky race. Gnomes often love magic and music, but also have a love of craft, clockworks, and the work of their hands. Whatever their passion, gnomes tend to throw themselves into it absolutely. Once obsessed and absorbed, a gnome can scarcely think of anything else, regardless of whether his mind bends to new adventures at home or in the great wide world.

Goblin

Goblins can be found all over Daria, often as underlings of those stronger than themselves. They are just as likely to be found as a bandit on the roadways as they are carpenters in the great cities. Once servants to a dark god in another world’s past, goblins found their way to Daria through a crossing of worlds and made the planet home. They often have a reputation for being sneaks and tricksters, though they can be as sentimental as the next human. There is a concerted effort among them to improve their reputations among others.

Goliath

Most folks must tip back their chins to meet the eye of a goliath. These descendants of half-giants still bear a resemblance to their ancestors: a grayish, stone-like skin if they came from stone giants, a ruddy complexion if they came from fire giants. They also still bear favors from their giant cousins in the form of boons. Despite their family history, goliaths as a whole have chosen their own way in history, intermingling with the other peoples or living among their kin in the Guardian Mountains.

Halfling

Often overlooked due to their diminutive size, halflings have an amazing ability to unwittingly insert themselves into the grand narrative of the world around them. Deft, and strong-willed, they blend into the societies of other races and quickly make themselves indispensable largely thanks to their inherent lucky nature.

Human

Humans possess an adaptability that rivals that of any other peoples, and are often driven by ambition and imagination. Such traits have allowed them to spread across the face of the world, acclimating to an endless variety of lands and conquering each new frontier. While often perceived as aggressive and destructive by farther-sighted peoples, most humans seek merely to use what time they’re given to live their lives to the fullest.

Orc

Orcs often exist at the social margins, though many do find their way into the center of things. Bestial in appearance and traditionally feared by those non-orcs they encounter, half-orcs tend to be tenacious and driven to prove themselves. They often must deal with prejudice due to their appearance and history.

Tiefling

A tiefling has an ancestor, however distant, that has some manner of connection to the Under Realms. Within their blood is the imprint of a contract to a fiend. Whether the tiefling in question is aware of this connection or not is irrelevant, the question they must answer is what they will do with their legacy. Tieflings are generaly rare, but can be found throughout Daria.
