The raiders of the north, the Skalds are known for their ferocity in battle, their rugged appearance, and their deep love for dogs. The finest breeds of dogs all hail from the Kingdom of Skald, and the very best breeders from the capital, Black Crag.
The Kingdom of Skald straddles the frozen night-lands of the north and the Sunfall Coast, or, “waking world,” as they call it. Skaldians have a tendency to resent outsiders, mistrust news from elsewhere, and draw blades rather than talk. They are often at war with the islanders to the south and tell dark stories of the nightmares that stalk the Evernight to the north.
All in all, Skaldians can seem like a hard folk, but once a stranger gets them talking about their dogs, they can become fast and true friends in no time at all.
